  • Cut the banana into small cubes. Add 1 cup water and the sliced banana into a pressure cooker and cook for two whistles. In the mean time make the Pidi.
  • Boil 1-1/2 cup water with salt.When it begins to boil add the roasted rice flour and mix well. Knead with enough water applied to your hand to form a soft dough.
  • Pich small portion of the dough and make a small ball using both hands. Then make it elongated and give a small press to get the shape if the pidi.
  • Once everythins is done, steam in an idli steamer for 5 minutes until its cooked and keep it ready. Put the coconut in a blender and add 1cup of water. Add in the cardamom and grind togeher.
  • Take the milk from the coconut and keep aside. Repeat the same procedure with 2 cups of water and take the thin coconut milk. Open the pressure pan and add the thin coconut milk and the cooked pidis.
  • Add 1/2 tsp salt and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Finally add in the thick coconut milk and add sugar to taste.
  • Serve as such or can be eaten as a curry with appom. Decorate with roasted cahewnut and raisins in ghee if desired.
