5 green chillies

6 shallots

10 birds eye chillies (only add if you like very spicy)

1 inch ginger

5 cloves of garlic

1/2 inch roasted belacan/shrimp paste (can use the powdered one too)

1 (100 g) tomato

1 stalk of coriander leaves (cut into 1 inch length)

salt to taste

5 tablespoons olive oil


  • Marinate the mutton pieces with the blended/grounded ingredients for about 1/2 hour.
  • Heat the oil and when heated, add the marinated mutton inside and stir for about 5 minutes.
  • Add 1 cup of water and cook until the mutton becomes soft.
  • Taste first before adding the salt as belacan does infuse salty taste too.
  • Finally, add the coriander leaves, give a good stir before removing from heat.
