Can?t stand the economic heat? ? get into The Kitchen, Parsons Green

By The ramblings of The Food Flunky (Visit website)

The Kitchen - Parsons Green

With the economic vocabulary yielding to indigestible chestnuts such as “credit-crisis” and “recession” it’s definitely time to take stock.

Not only have the strings on our pig ear purses become that little bit tighter, but the: effort in, to results out formula has also taken and unwanted balance shift.

Thankfully with institutions such as The Kitchen at Parsons Green, and their delectable wares, there is a guilt free tasty alternative to expensive gourmet dining where the only bite in sight is from crisp trimmed French beans.

With the backing of Michelin starred French man Thierry Laborde, The Kitchen is revolutionising the ready meal market. Part Do It Yourself, part Done IT For You, The Kitchen offers a dazzling array of carefully sourced home-fine-dining meal options where provenance and simple preparation is king.

To give you an overview of your input in this devilish little plan to wow your dinner party guests, here’s the formula.

Call or visit The Kitchen’s website

Choose your meals (minimum 4 portions)

Arrange a session time to assemble your ingredients at The Kitchen

Drop into The Kitchen and prepare your chosen dishes: All the ingredients have been bought and prepared ahead of your visit. All equipment is provided and the best bit … leave the washing-up for The Kitchen team

Seal your meals in the specially designed ovenproof packaging

Head home

Engage in simple, final preparation from the comfort of your own home

Don a faux apron and dust ones nose with flour

Serve Michelin starred food to guests and revel in praise

For instance the £6.50/portion Fishermans pie …

Yes we all have an age old Fishermans pie recipe handed down from generation to generation blah blah blah but The Kitchen carefully source and poach sustainable Cod and Coley, cook and shell the plump mussels in a creamy white wine and mild onion stock, puree the peas, cream the creamiest mash and knock out a lump free béchamel devoid of any hint of flour flavour.

Your job is to simply layer the beast, pipe the mash and grate the well aged Gruyère under the watchful eye of Thierry and his team who are more than happy to give you insight into the ingredients (helping to further dazzle guests with your poetic provenance ramblings).

Then enjoy a well earned glass of vino in The Kitchen’s stylish surroundings, scurry home, whack your centre piece in the oven and serve. Voila! … a Michelin starred meal in minutes minus the washing-up, shopping, wastage, stress etc etc etc

The Kitchen experience is a fantastic opportunity for those food lovers who lack culinary confidence to really engage with stellar produce and revel in the resultant taste sensations.

This format for real fast-slow food maybe the answer to our current sullen woeful mindsets without breaking yet more banks!

Thoroughly recommended!
