The USA have Julia Child: Canada has Anita Stewart
The two women are obviously very different, yet share an obvious trait and common ground: their passion and respect for food. Anita Stewart is my heroine of Canadian Cuisine and in her most recent book Anita Stewart's CANADA ~ The Food, The Recipes, The Stories she successfully defines what Canadian cuisine is all about. Anita's energy seems limitless, although I am guessing her projects must be exhausting. Her enthusiasm for her work is so intense that I cannot help but be swept up in it- mind you there is no resistance here! Any serious Canadian foodie should go out and buy this book. This book is important. It is a classic of classic cookbooks, sharing culinary journeys and the variety of cultures that shape the landscape of cuisine that is Canadian food.
