Cham Cham ( A traditional Bengali Sweet )

Serves: 5

Preparation Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

100 g channa / cottage cheese, water completely squeezed out
1 drop edible food color ( optional )
200 g sugar
3 cups of water

For garnish:

Khoya, cherry, raisins as required

Method

Knead the channa well in a platter to make a smooth dough with edible food color ( optional )

Take a portion of it and give it a flat oval shape. Prepare the remaining dough likewise.

Make syrup in a flat pan with sugar and 3 cups of water.

Place the cham cham in the sugar syrup one by one.

Cover with a lid and boil on a low heat for 10 - 12 minutes. Then remove the lid and carefully turn all of them.

Cover with a lid again and boil on a low heat for another 10 - 12 minutes till it it is cooked and become big and fluffy.

After the syrup almost dries up and the cham chams are filled with thick syrup take them out.

Arrange them on a plate and garnish with dry khoya, cherry and raisins.
