By Melbourne's bargain foodie (Visit website)

A visit to Melbourne, just isn't complete without dropping by this iconic building. Curtin house houses the city's coolest bars, rooftop cinema, bookshop, boutiques and of course restaurant.

That restaurant being the one in the building is the ultra hip, Cookie. Cookie, if you do not already know serves up Thai/Modern Thai food. The menu at Cookie is fairly large, dishes are divided into three categories, they consist of: small dishes, medium dishes and large dishes.

Cookie

Crispy Fish Salad with Sticky Pork & Green Papaya Salad ($18.50)

A slight variation to the traditional green papaya salad perhaps? No matter what it is, this has to be one of my favourite dishes of the year. The salad was really really good, the flavours were right, it was bold and fresh. The crispy fishy bits really added crunch and the dressing added a lot of "kick".

Deep Fried Snapper with Bok Choy Tamarind and Crispy Shallot ($21.50)

This, I do not fancy as much. When I see the words "deep-fried" on the menu, I kinda expected the dish to be crispy or at least, have some sort of crisp consistency. This particular dish did not have either. Nonetheless, I should point out, that the fish was fresh and bok choy tamarind were tossed to perfection.

Coconut Rice ($3.50 per serve)

Jungle Duck Curry with Eggplant and Bamboo Shoots ($21.50)

The jungle curry was not to my liking at all. It had a very unpleasant smell and taste to it. In addition, the curry was overwhelmingly spicy, the spiciness masked the flavours of other ingredients. (To be fair, the waiter did warn us the dish was spicy, but I was not informed that it was one-dimensional!)

Buggsy!

The bill was brought to us, in old children storybooks, (just like the one above), which I thought was kind of cute.
