Curly Papa's Birthday
Today is a very special day. Exactly fifty years ago my daddy was born into this grand old place called Earth. In honor of the special occasion I brought him a special treat?
Breakfast in bed for papa! ![]() Along with flowers and a little something, something from Nordstrom?s. ;P The Birthday Boy?s breakfast menu: Coconut Banana Bread from Mark Bittman?s Vegetarian Cookbook (watch the video review here) filled with pecans and fresh banana Blueberry, almond, and Greek yogurt parfait (which I may have helped him out with) ![]() The banana bread was fantastic. With the addition of coconut to the banana and pecans it was definitely a party in my mouth! My mum kept teasing me that it was all because I followed the recipe to a t. I?m normally not very good about that? ;P After a little lounging we headed off to the gym for a little father-daughter workout. With the sun shining it was the perfect day to spend some time outdoors so after showering I sat Daddio on the patio and started working on lunch. ![]() My dad is a big fan of Italian food so I fixed him some quickie grilled chicken in TJ?s bolognaise sauce over spinach along with wheat pasta and broccoli topped with my Almost No Fat Pesto from my freezer stash. I managed to stay in the same color scheme by re-fixing half of a wrap from a nasty restaurant we visited the day before. It had a faux chicken patty with iceberg lettuce, tomato, and a red pepper wrap. I hated every bite, but I would have hated to have wasted it because I paid $12 for the foul thing. ![]() Don?t you just HATE it when restaurants overcharge you for gross, vegetarian fare? My mum had a very nice (or so she said) pesto turkey sandwich that only cost around $6! I had to rid my mouth of the taste by rinsing it down with cucumber and my favorite TJ?s hummus. (You have watched my hummus review video, right?) I kissed my papa goodbye and headed off to work. Where I may have just eaten two Larabars instead of dinner. Sometimes you?re just too pooped to worry about packing up dinner. Bars are just so darn convenient. I really didn?t have much of an appetite today, but I needed quality fuel to prevent me from ringing the neck of the little youngin who peed by the Curious George display. And if you?ve never tried sandwiching a cashew cookie and coconut Larabar you haven?t really lived (the two best flavors ever according to this video review)! What is your number one ?go-to-food? that you eat when you just need something, anything, in your tummy? Have a lovely night darling bloggigans. And Happy 50th to my papa bear! With Love, Emily PS- I just realized that my 100th post has come and gone without my knowledge! Oh the horrors! I was planning on having a lovely little party in celebration. Darn it... However, I would like to add a FAQ page to Curly Top in honor of the crazy amount of posts now posted for your enjoyment. If you could ask this little curly personage anything at all what would it be? You can send your queries to talk2curlytop@gmail.com or post them here and I will reveal all at the end of the week. related searches : Curly
