Easter Blocks
I've always adored holidays. I was almost heartbroken the year I found out my parents didn't dye Easter eggs after all their kids were grown and gone. I have this dilemma though -- I hate clutter, but I love holiday decorations. I can't wait to set them all up and have my house looking festive, but I've been known to take them down before the holiday even arrives because the clutter seems to close in on me. My Christmas decor all gets taken down on Christmas. Boxes and wrapping and clutter, oh, MY!
I've been reading all these amazingly talented bloggers' posts about the Easter crafts they've been making, and I can't help but want to make them too. I want to spend a day or two with my glue gun and mod podge, but alas, something is holding me back. I even went so far as to buy the supplies for an Easter Egg garland and an Easter wreath for my door, but I haven't been able to break down and actually get them made. I think this year life is demanding simplicity. My whole house won't be Easter-adorned this year. Nope. I'm keeping things streamlined. I'm sticking with 2 or 3 decorations and that's it. Still, I can't help but smile when I see this little Easter chick peeking out at me from the shelf. I made this last year by cutting a 1 x 3 into various lengths. I used a scrap piece of wood I had laying around for the chick's block. I painted each block a different spring color and then adhered vinyl lettering to them. The chick is hand-painted (but so simple ANYONE could do it.) I attached the wiggly eyes and yellow feathers with a glue gun. Clutter phobia aside, this guy made an appearance this year. Let's see if he sticks around through the weekend! related searches : Easter
