Fig and Flax Oats
Good Morning! Happy Saturday! I love the weekends, especially the one's where I don't have to go to yoga teacher training. Don't get me wrong... I love my teacher training but I am able to spend the day with my kids and extended family and I am so excited. I was the first one up and admit I hopped out of bed and went outside to check on the garden. I was for sure that the deer were going to jump the fence and eat my little seedlings the first night and my kids little faces would be so sad. Everything was safe and sound and once the kids got up they ran down there to check everything out. My son is way on top of being a little gardener and checked each plant for bugs! I think our main culprit is actually going to be our dog, Gumbo. He is just waiting for us to leave so he can go dig in our little garden. I spoke to the kids all about if this happens and how we will just have to start over again. I also sprayed the soil and plants with a mixture of egg whites, a habenero pepper and 1 tsp of dishwashing soap, this evidently is supposed to keep dogs and deer out. I will let you know if this works. We have a fun day ahead of us, we are going to my Aunt's house to decorate Easter Eggs for hunting and our infamous Easter Egg Cracking Contest. All the cousins will be there and I secretly enjoy making the huge mess at her house and not mine! I also am also sending hubby off to play golf.... he just got invited to go to an all expenses paid golf trip to PINEHURST yesterday. You should have seen his face.... he was in disbelief and I was not sure if something good had happened or bad. This is a business perk and someone cancelled out so he was the lucky beneficiary of the trip. He is a golf nut but feels guilty about leaving the family to play.. he has been spending the last 8 months every other weekend taking care of the kids so I think he deserves to have a couple weekends to himself. He goes in two weeks and really needs to fine tune his game before the trip! I also am sending him to Whole Foods to get a few select things for tomorrow's Easter Baskets. The kids are so excited! Today's breakfast was a warm and comforting bowl of oats. I do so love my Oatmeal and today's was particularly good: Fig and Flax Oats 1/2 cup rolled oats 1 cup water Cooked for 4-5 minutes. Topped with 1 tsp Turbinado Raw Sugar 2 dried figs, sliced 1 tablespoon ground flax seed 6 Almonds chopped Oh so good.... I enjoyed this while watching Ellie Krieger on Food Network. She was making the most delicious looking Mixed Berry Cobbler. Might have to make one of those soon. I also did my weight circuit and bumped up my weights so am feeling a bit shaky at the moment. I also would love to practice Ashtanga at some point today but the day seems to be floating by... is it really almost 11:00am~! Time to get out of my jammies and start thinking about lunch.... a salad seems to be on the horizon. Have a great Saturday! related searches : Fig
