Game Day- A Southern Tradition

By Kitchen Belleicious (Visit website)

THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL! I GOT THE BEST NEWS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON- I WON THE BAKE FOR THE CURE GIVEAWAY! I am so thankful for you all because without your help I know I would have never even had a chance to win! I have to thank you with more than just words so I will be using some of the gift card to the kitchen store to get a prize to giveaway to you all! So be sure to leave a comment and give me some ideas of something you want or need for your kitchen! LET ME KNOW!

One would think a Saturday in the south is all about the game, the rivals, the traditions, and if your house is like mine, the Noise! My husband get's just a tad bit excited at times! However, I am here to tell you that you are mistaken.

As the sun peaks around the clouds on a cool and crisp Saturday in the fall, those who truly know what is important on this day, begin to prepare for the big game. Except the big game has nothing to do with football and everything to do with the food. Will the chicken do what it is told and turn out moist and crisp, is the chili hot enough and will desert be done on time. So many plays in the playbook (cookbook) to chose from and one must be prepared. Timing is critical and let's face it, if your not ready then you will be left behind.

As I tighten the strings on the apron I put my game day face on and courageously make my way into the kitchen. You see, a true southern hostess knows how to throw a get together, and a true southern hostess knows that win or lose with your team, the food is what they will remember. All dressed up and so much to do, a Saturday in the south is about tradition but first things first, let's go ahead and make sure our priorities are in order, which is you MUST look good. I am not talking about being dressed to the nine (it is just a football game) but I am referring to "that" look. The look that says Classy, Chic but comfortable. You know the one I am talking about. The look that you want the other girls to think you just threw together just like you did with the food. Little does anyone know that you put a lot of time and effort into both! LOL!

Food is what game day is all about and at the end of the day a southern belle can relax as long as she knows the "game"(food) went as planned. Traditional, easy and simple food is key to a successful game day celebration so without further ado let me introduce to a wonderful and easy spread of delicious food with a few Belleicious twist here and there.
