Ham Salad and Egg Soboro Bento
This bento happened by accident. Well, not the act of bentoing itself, but the ingredients. The mishap is the ham-salad stuffed aburage! What?! Originally, the ham was intended to be a part of everyday, ordinary sandwich. But one: the ham fell apart; sliced too thin ,it was disintegrating at my attempt to remove it from it’s wrapping. I’m going to have to double check before leaving the deli! And two: I didn’t have any bread! Sooo…out came the jar of mayonnaise to emulsify the quickly fading ham while I contemplated what to do with the mix once I finished blending. Remember, there is no bread. But I do have aburage?thinly sliced, fried tofu that looks and acts like pita pockets! We’re saved. Whew! The other items are rice with egg soboro topped with bonito furikake, shumai, tomatoes, cukes, carrots, enoki mushrooms, and kamaboko. Because of the mayo, I instructed Saba Man to keep his lunch chilled. Then I realized that the top tier with the rice will not taste very good cold. Darn. So I added to the not that he should heat the top tier before eating. Can you guess what’s wrong with this picture? The bento box is made of metal and can’t go into the microwave! Double darn. related searches : Ham
