Happy 2010!
Hello everyone! I know that it’s been forever since my last post. However, in the past few weeks I have had a wild and crazy Christmas vacation and also started a new quarter of school so my mind has been in a zillion places other than this here blog (which probably isn’t a bad thing). Since classes have just begun, I don’t have much to say about them yet. So far, I know that I am going to be doing a lot of photography and learning a lot about web design and web coding, the manifestations of which you will soon see right here! For today, I would like to take part in a project called Five Senses Friday. Every Friday, Abby of Abby Try Again lets her readers know what she is “sensing.” Today, I was… Hearing: the peaceful (yet obnoxiously loud) rhythm of the typewriter at work, and the stillness of an empty room that’s full of books. Smelling: Zhena’s Blueberry Vanilla Biodynamic Green Tea, which smells very much like blueberry muffins in a cup. (No, I don’t know what it means to be biodynamic; also please don’t brew it too long because it will smell delicious but taste not-so-delicious.) Tasting: yesterday’s curried eggplant and tofu on brown rice, which I didn’t cook properly but was still nutty and yummy. And oh, thank heaven for Trader Joe’s Curry Sauce in a bottle. Feeling: the fuzziness (and smallness) of my pretty new blue house slippers with tiny white flowers on them! You will probably see photographs of those soon cause they’re simply too lovely. Seeing: my friend Brittany’s sweater, which she left at my house on accident (or perhaps on purpose) when she left for a Los Angeles adventure a few days ago. (But she will be back very soon and we will have much more fun!) All-in-all, I’m feeling quite luxurious! I’ve taken to the habit of relaxing with hot tea once or twice daily, and I really wish everyone had the opportunity and time to do this. It’s such a lovely little ritual, especially when you use the time to think about wonderful things, like the fact that you can get up in the morning, breathe air, and be alive. Or simpler things like the beautiful flavor of eggplant. Ahhhh. There are lots of things I want to do this year, but I won’t list them here. There’s no use in that. The only way to do them is to do them. Besides… if I make a list and I don’t accomplish something on it, it may be rather disappointing. And I don’t want to be disappointed in myself! (Though, if you really must know, I will be learning to paint with watercolors and to hand-code webpages and to take risks and to go on adventures, etc.) I hope that you all can enjoy the little things in 2010! P.S. I’m learning to draw with a digital tablet! It’s hard/awkward. As in, any proof I may have of the fact that I’m learning would be quite embarassing. But I’m giving it a LOT of practice and I’m so excited…
