The unit is quality-constructed, very solid and stable. It’s heavier than expected but operating noise is reasonable. Beaters are easy to change and I love the tilt-head design which makes it easy to access the bowl, without removing the beaters. I really like the assortment of speeds and found that most often, higher speeds weren’t required (except when whipping eggs) because the mixer does such a quick thorough mixing. Power is ample and sufficient for mixing cake and heavier cookie batters, or kneading a single or double batch of bread dough. It kneads dough well and whips frosting extremely creamy.

Clean-up is a breeze; it wipes easily and washing bowl and beaters is very quick due to the nice finish. The pouring shield makes it easier to add ingredients while the mixer is on and eliminates splashing.

I leave the Artisan on the counter where I can easily access it and I use it for all mixing tasks. Originally, I thought I would want to keep a hand mixer for certain tasks, but I’ve found I never use it – the stand unit is much more convenient. As for capacity and power, it’s rated for up to 9 cups of flour and it does very well within those guidelines. Read more….
