Hot Topic: My Arch Nemesis

By This Winding Road (Visit website)

Meet my arch nemesis: the bedtime snack.

DSCN5219

Microwaved pear+cinnamon+1/2 cup  PB Puffins

Delicious, no?

I?ll provide some background info: Yesterday, I took a study break and went to see Inglorious Basterds (which was great, by the way) with my friend. Well, that interfered with my normal afternoon snacktime, so I packed a Luna bar and sucked it up.

I got so into the movie, that I never really wanted the bar, and decided I would just eat a snack after dinner to make up for it.

If you?ve been reading my blog, you know that any disturbance in my schedule really sets me off. I?ve certainly progressed with leaps and bounds in this area of my recovery, but still, it can be mentally unsettling at times.

But I told myself, no matter what, I was not going to talk myself out of having that nighttime snack. Here are a few of the useful thoughts I kept myself strong with:

I needed to eat enough for the day
Skipping snacks has never done me any good
Following my meal plan is NOT a sign of weakness
In fact, eating the right amount is a sign of STRENGTH and MATURITY

I also recognize that it was basically the change in routine that made me the most uncomfortable, not the eating part.

Well, I enjoyed that snack, and I did not go to bed with an empty belly, OR a calorie deficit?which is healthy and smart.

A few noteworthy eats?Didn?t think I was going to stray from food blogging completely did you?

Alright, if you read the captions above each picture, you?ll notice that 2 out of 3 were study snacks. I do indeed have 2 tests Wednesday morning: a Behavioral Neuroscience lab followed by Drugs & Behavior?yikes.

Oh yea, AND I?m going to my sorority?s Arrange a Date party Tuesday night. What? I?m a senior, it?s my LAST date party. Ever.

Enough procrastinating, I?m hitting up the books again?Ciao!! ;)
