Kellogg?s Fiber Plus Antioxidants Berry Yogurt Crunch Cereal

I like cereal, but I always feel like I’m starving an hour after I eat it, especially if I stick to the serving size listed on the box. This is the main reason why I don’t eat it for breakfast, although sometimes I just have to have it.

And if I have to be honest, if I could get away with it, I’d only eat the sugary junky cereals, but I try to do the responsible adult thing and keep those to a minimum and stock more of the healthier stuff.

Recently, as part of the FoodBuzz Tastemaker Program, I was given the chance to try a couple of the new Kellogg’s Fiber Plus Antioxidants cereals.  I was expecting a couple of those small boxes like you get in those cereal variety packs.  Instead, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I had been sent 2 regular sized boxes -  one of the Berry Yogurt Crunch and one of the Cinnamon Oat Crunch.

I was excited to try these new flavors because I’m always on the look-out for yummy-tasting healthy cereals.  While I know one shouldn’t depend on cereal to meet one’s nutrient quota for the day, I certainly don’t mind getting a fiber boost with my cereal!

I decided to try the Berry Yogurt Crunch today.  As I poured out my 1-cup serving, I noted the large flakes and the yogurt-berry clusters and hoped they tasted as good as they smelled.

I added some light vanilla soymilk and fresh blueberries to my bowl and chowed down.  This is good stuff!  There is  no need to add any sugar, the flakes tasted sweet and the yogurt clusters provided a sweet and cinnamon burst of flavor to the bowl.  I also noticed that the flakes didn’t get soggy from the soymilk and retained their crunch throughout.

The extra fiber in the cereal helped keep me from getting hungry for a couple hours, which included a trip to the grocery store.  While I still don’t see myself making cereal my every-day breakfast, this will definitely make a nice change and would make a great afternoon snack for me.  Can’t wait to try the Cinnamon Oat Crunch!
