Kitchen Kids: Granola Bars Recipe
Today was cooking day with the kids once again. I helped Rain and Skye make granola bars. They are just as delicious as the ones sold in stores but you get to control what goes into them. What's also great about this recipe is that you can double or triple the amount you make and freeze them for future snacks, lunches, or desserts. The concentrated mixing Flatten, flatten, flatten Ready for the oven The yummy result Granola Bars 3 c. rolled oats1 c. whole wheat or all-purpose flour1/2 c. vegetable oil1/2 c. honey2 tsp. vanilla3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon3/4 tsp. salt3/4 tsp. baking soda1-1 1/2 c. combination of dried fruit, nuts, chocolate chipsToast the rolled oats on a baking sheet in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. This will make the granola crunchy instead of chewy. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Take out of the oven and let cool. It's easier to cut the granola while still warm. If you let it get too cool, the granola will crumble right before your eyes as you cut through it. It's cool if you want crumbles. Not cool if you want bars. related searches : Kitchen
