Mint Rice
Mint Rice:
Usually mint is used for seasoning, adding flavor to rasam, preparing chutneys and health drinks etc. For the first time i happen to eat mint rice in my mother-in-law's house. The dish was delicious and I had it with Onion raitha, pappad. It might be a known dish for many but for me it was new. She(my mother-in-law)had prepared it without using ginger, garlic, corrainder leaves.Generally mint is sweeter but to make it little more spicy I have added them. It turned out really well. Also it didn't take much time for preparation. It has great medicinal values too. Even in Ayurvedic medicinal treatment mint is used for balancing Pitta. With no further delay come on lets check the ingredients for this rice and the way how its being cooked. Make sure to wash mint completely.Since its a herb variety, we might have to clean with more water to remove minute sand particles. Ingredients : Mint (Pudina) - 1 cup Corrainder leaves - 1/4 cup Green Chillies - 4 Garlic - 2 cloves Ginger - 1/2 inch Onion(finely chopped) - 1/2 cup Dried red chillies - 2 Salt - 2 tbsp Cooking Oil - 4 tbsp Method of Preparation: 1. Grind mint, corriander leaves, green chillies, garlic, ginger to a fine paste. 2. Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal,red chillies, curry leaves. 3. Once its starts spluttering add onion and fry until onion turns golden brown. 4. Now pour the paste (prepared in Step 1) to the pan and add salt, little water. 5. Turn the gas to sim and let it be for 5-10 mins. 6. Mix hot white rice with this paste and serve it. I prepared the dish this Monday.I had it with yummy potato fry and pappad.OMG even now my mouth is watering thinking of that deadly combination :) related searches : Mint
