  • Soak the toor dal and rice in the water for 1/2 hour.
  • Heat oil in the heavy bottomed pan, add cinnamon stick , cloves and onion. Saute till golden brown in color.
  • Add green chillies, hing, garlic, turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes.
  • Drain and add the toor dal and rice. Pour the water & salt to taste. Cover and cook till done.
  • Serve with coconut chutney.
