Ingredients

- Toor dal - 1/4 cup

- Rice - 3/4 cup

- Onion -1 no

- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

- Garlic - 4 pods

- Green chillies - 3 to 4 nos

- A pinch of hing

- 1 small sized tomato

- Cinnamon stick - 1 no

- Cloves - 3 nos

- Oil - 1 tablespoon

- Salt to taste

Water - 2 cups

Preparation

Step 1

Soak the toor dal and rice in the water for 1/2 hour.

Step 2

Heat oil in the heavy bottomed pan, add cinnamon stick , cloves and onion. Saute till golden brown in color.

Step 3

Add green chillies, hing, garlic, turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes.

Step 4

Drain and add the toor dal and rice. Pour the water & salt to taste. Cover and cook till done.

Step 5

Serve with coconut chutney.
