My two favorite words: Wine and Food

I'm going to go out on a limb with this one but I'm just going to say it and move on like a rational person:

This is the absolute best week ever in Charleston.

Like you're really surprised that I am dying about the Wine and Food Festival. I'm sorry, but it is SO exciting having all of these celebrity chefs all over Charleston. I have already seen Kevin Gillespie from Top Chef who was absolutely robbed in the finale of last season. If it wasn't for those Voltaggio brothers I'm sure that he would have won. My opinion is based solely on the fact that honey loves himself some pork; this is made obvious with his highly publicized tattoo.


I love him even more.

Another one of my culinary crushes is in town.


Richard Mother-effing Blais. Yet another Atlanta contestant on Top Chef that should have won, hands down. Whatsername that I don't care to remember was a'ight at best and the only reason she won is because she had a good night among many mediocre ones. When a Chef-testant impresses Eric Ripert with his cooking methods, you know you've stumbled upon something special. Despite my southern-prejudiced rants, the bottom line is that both Blais and Gillespie are incredible chefs and it's so fun to get to see them in my city. Some people go crazy over actors, others are cuckoo for athletes (which I also am), but my biggest crushes are almost entirely palate-related. There is nothing sexier than someone that not only has an exceptional palate but can do something about it with a chef's knife and a dutch oven. I think it's love.

On a somewhat related note, I have been invited to a private event associated with the Wine and Food Festival tonight in a private residence in Charleston. There will be plenty of pictures tomorrow, trust me. I have my camera charging now, y'all, so please don't get mad at me now b/c I forget to take pictures. It won't happen.
