Pick your own title Thursday

By Spice's Bites (Visit website)

I can’t do it, I have title-writer’s block.  Considering this is my second post in the same day, I can cut myself some slack.

This week I’ve been struggling with getting up to exercise in the morning.  It’s not like I have to leave the house to work-out, all I’m doing is stumbling downstairs to pop in a dvd, but when that alarm goes off and I’m all warm cuddled up in my blanket, I don’t want to get up.

But too bad, I’ve been making myself do it anyway. I just tell myself all I have to do is 30 minutes and then it’s all over and I don’t have to think about it anymore.  Usually does the trick.

This morning I popped in one of my Quick Fix dvds.  I like this series because I get 3 10-minute work-outs and I can pick and choose what I want to do.   Today was Total Cardio Kick, which has an upper-body segment, a lower-body segment, and a core/abs segment.  I felt ambitious and did all 3, working up quite a sweat.

After my work-out, I had a small glass of unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze.  I have to add some Splenda to mine, but I like the nuttiness of the almond milk.

More often than not, I eat my breakfast once I get to work, but this morning I decided to eat it at home. Mr. Spice was up for a meeting and so we had a very very rare weekday breakfast together. He had hot dogs and I had my usual breakfast sandwich and some strawberries. Hey, I’m not going to judge his breakfast, I’m just happy he had breakfast.

Since I ate breakfast earlier than I usually do, I got hungry mid-morning. I decided to have some of my jalapeno almonds.

These did the trick and held me over until lunch. I ended up eating what I had brought for yesterday’s lunch — I ended up going out to lunch yesterday. This is the last of the chicken & chickpeas and rice.

After lunch I had a few pieces of this triple-berry dark chocolate bar I got from World Market last time I was there. I thought I took a picture of it, but I guess now. It’s really really good — I love the combo of berries and chocolate.

And then a few hours later, I decided to try some pomegranate-flavored Chobani Greek yogurt.

Last time I tried Chobani I wasn’t crazy about it, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this flavor. I do have to warn you that they put the pomegranate seeds at the bottom of the yogurt, so if you don’t like them, now you know.

It was 7pm by the time I left work and I was glad when Mr. Spice suggested we meet for dinner. He was at some networking event at Atkins Park Restaurant in Smyrna. I had been here once a couple years back, but not to eat — I was with some coworkers one night and they were doing happy hour. I skipped out as soon as I could since I hate sitting around at bars with stupid drunk people blowing cigarette smoke in my face. But tonight the bar area had a bunch of people networking. I collected Mr. Spice and we headed over to the restaurant section.

What I liked about the menu here was that you could get all fancy and order duck breast or you could have a good old cheeseburger and fries, which is what I did.

Excuse the dark picture, but I didn’t want to use the flash and draw attention to myself. I got one of their Angus burgers and got some pepperjack cheese and bacon on top. I have been really wanting a burger the past few days, and this hit the spot. I told Mr. Spice that we should remember to come back here since it’s not that far from where we live.

And that is that. I’m ready to call it a night and get some much-needed sleep. Good night!
