Quick Bread and Artisana Review

By A Healthy Passion (Visit website)

So I woke up this morning excited to taste test the nut butters we received in the mail last week until I realized there was not a bit of bread in our house. Thankfully I found a recipe which yielded the absolute perfect loaf of bread, exactly what I was looking for in under 30 minutes. I seriously didn’t think it was possible. If you love the idea of  homemade bread, but don’t have the time or patience to make it, I promise this recipe does not disappoint. Oh and the picture you see above is exactly what is left of our loaf, yep we demolished it.

Whole Wheat Oat Quick Bread

adapted from allrecipes

Ingredients:

1 cup old fashioned oats

1 cup whole wheat bread flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1 ½ Tablespoons agave nectar

1 Tablespoon coconut oil, melted

1 cup almond milk

Directions: Preheat oven to 450F. Grind oatmeal in a food processor or blender. In a large bowl, combine oatmeal, flour, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, dissolve agave syrup in coconut oil then stir in the almond milk. Combine both mixtures and stir until a soft dough is formed. Form the dough into a ball and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet.  Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until bottom of loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Let cool, slice, and slather with Artisana nut butters.

Combine dry ingredients, salt, baking powder, whole wheat bread flour, and oats.

Melt together coconut oil and agave.

Stir in almond milk

fold wet into dry and form into a small loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet and pop into a 450 degree oven for 20 minutes.

Slice your moist, nutty loaf and load each slice up with delicious Artisana nut butters.

We received quite a few fabulous nut butter samples from the wonderful people @ Premier Organics.

For breakfast this morning Dutch and I decided to take it upon ourselves to taste test each individual one and give you our honest opinions.

Disclaimer: Premier Organics was kind enough to send me complimentary samples of their products. All views expressed on this review were purely our own, and we were not reimbursed by the company to share our opinions.

Up first: Raw Tahini Butter

In my opinion I thought this butter was really good, smooth, nutty, and creamy everything I expect from a tahini, however I am not a huge fan of tahini on bread alone so I am saving the rest for my next batch of hummus, I think it would work perfectly. Dutch was not big on the tahini either and quickly moved on to the next sample,

Cashini Butter. A unique combination of cashews and sesame seeds the cashini butter had a much more pleasant flavor than the tahini on its own. I really enjoyed the savory flavor and silky smooth texture while Dutch was still not too excited… He quickly set his sights on our next sample,

Raw Macadamia Butter. OMG this stuff is amazing reminds me of the tropics and would be soo good in a cookie, i’m definitely adding that to my must make list, macadamia nut butter cookies, YESSS!

After the Macadamia Butter we moved on to Raw Walnut Butter and I was quite impressed with how awesome this one was as well. Although the cashew flavor was dominant the walnut gave the butter a hint of walnut flavor and an awesome, smooth texture. Dutch said this nut butter reminded him of a nut roll haha.

After devouring the Walnut Butter we moved on to the Raw Pecan Butter yet another success. The pecan butter was extremely palatable with a smooth mouth feel and  creamy texture. The flavor of the pecan butter was also extremely unique and rich, perfect to satisfy any craving.

I quickly paired the pecan butter with the Cacao Bliss and was in heaven. :)

Last but certainly not least in the nut butter department we tested out the Raw Almond Butter which was a home run in my book. Drippy and smooth  this almond butter was absolutely perfect, not to mention it had a ton of almond flavor which is unusual for a raw nut butter.

Dutch agreed the almond butter was one of his favorites also.

In between samples he attempted cleanse his palate with a green smoothie in his new valentines day glass.

After we came out of our nut butter comas we moved on to the Coconut Butters. First we tasted the Cacao Bliss which exceeded my expectations. After trying it with the pecan butter I had an idea of what it tasted like, but alone the cacao bliss just melted in my mouth. It had a deep dark chocolate flavor which I absolutely loved, I could definitely see myself eating this straight from the jar with a spoon.

Of course the Coconut Butter was incredible as well, I heated it up in the microwave for a few seconds to make it easier to spread which really helped out. After tasting it the texture was quite similar to the cacao butter, silky smooth and melt in your mouth. The flavor however, was sweet and delicious omg amazing. I could totally picture it drizzled over a batch of overnight oats pure Coconut Bliss!

Dutch decided after tasting each of the butters it would be appropriate to rate them from favorite to least favorite so here it is:

Coconut Butter/Cacao Bliss (tie for first) Pecan Butter, Macadamia, Cashew, Walnut, Almond, Cashini, Tahini.

For the most part I agreed with his opinions although I really loved the walnut butter and cannot wait to have the rest for breakfast tomorrow :) After sampling all of Artisana’s products I feel they are indeed far superior to other butters I have tried in the past. I also love the fact all of their products are certified organic, raw,  and pure. I will certainly be purchasing more of the walnut butter and cacao bliss in the near future!

I hope you enjoyed our opinions on Artisana nut butters, if you haven’t tried them before hopefully this review will help you to decide which flavor would be perfect for you. Dutch and I really enjoyed being taste testers, although with products like these who wouldn’t.

Question:

Do you like nut butters? If so whats your flavor: Walnut butter and cacao bliss are my two faves!

Time to get to sleep I have a busy day tomorrow :) Have a great night.

Kate
