I ended my day  by making myself a cold cucumber soup. However, once I had finished eating my salad, I headed back to the market. I wanted to examine the Austrian (Wiener) strudel stand:



with a variety of strudels, both sweet and savory. The fillings range from spinach to potato to cherry and quark……presented in long logs of thin dough wrapped in various flavours!!


Next to the strudel stand I got a taste of France with quiche and freshly made crepes:





…and just a few steps further, you have the licorice stand, with all sort of licorice in various shapes and textures.



a Tiroler specialty stand with, of course cheeses and sausages, a “freshly-baked-good-stand” with Turkish stuffed breads and more..





To close my market round that Saturday, I visited the Arabian sweet stand with various types of baklava…



and a taste of “Laurels” organic soft freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. SCORE!!!!!



When I returned home for the second and final time, I made a cold refreshing cucumber soup to close my market adventure!



Cold Cucumber Soup

Serves 4

2 large cucumbers, cut into pieces
1 clove garlic ( I LOVE a strong garlic taste, so you may want to use less, like 1/2 a clove)
1 small onion
1 cup of buttermilk
1 cup of kefir /or two cups of either one
1 tsp. fresh mint finely cut
1 tsp. fresh dill finely cut
Salt and pepper to taste
lemon juice to taste

Three step method:

Put the first 5 ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.
Stir in the mint, dill, salt and pepper ( I like to mix these in by hand, and not with the blender) and some lemon juice to suit your taste.
Place in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and you are ready to go. Enjoy!
