The Juicing Journey Begins
I will admit it, it has only been a day but I am addicted to juicing! No, not like Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire...fruit and vegetable juicing. My friend Heather from Life as a Lilly has been posting some amazing juicing recipes on her blog. Then I talked to my older sister the other day and she mentioned that she loves juicing. I had to try it! We have been getting a box of organic fruits and vegetables from a local company each week and I find it hard to eat everything. Some things go fast but items like the apples, oranges, and sometimes greens just keep piling up. I thought that juicing would be a great way to utilize these items. So, I hopped online and ordered the Waring Pro Juice Extractor JEX328PK from Amazon.com. I only paid $47 which included shipping :)
It showed up this morning and I was so excited to try it out. I tried the green apple, celery, carrot, and garlic combination that Heather posted last week. It was so easy, just put each piece in, press it down, and viola- JUICE! I really liked the flavor of this combination. Not sweet, but with a nice hint of apple. Heather warned to not juice too much fruit or I might start craving sweets (something I don't really do right now). However, I wanted to use up some of the oranges that have been piling up. I decided to make a lemonade and it was wonderful. I had everything lined up to take a picture before juicing, but I got too excited and never got around to the picture. Here is an after picture though! Orange Strawberry Lemonade 1 orange, peeled 3 lemons, peeled (if you have a fancy juicer you don't have to do this) 7 strawberries 2 c. water 1 tsp. honey Juice all of the fruits. Stir in cold water and honey. Enjoy! :)
