Unakkameen Podichathu
Dryfish Chutney Ingredients:-Unakkameen (dry fish) - 8 medium pieces(Available in Pathmark/Shoprite in NE) Chopped shallots/Onion - 1/2 cup Red chilli flakes - 2 tsp Garlic (optional) - 1 tsp Red chilli powder - 1 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Oil How to make? Soak Unakkameen/dry fish in water for 4-6 hours so that the excess salt would reduce Pat dry the soaked dry fish and marinate it with red chili powder and Turmeric powder for 15 minutes Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the fish pieces ,until they turn reddish brown.drain on Paper towels In a mortar and pestle ,Coffe grinder(these are the best for crushing) or mixer, Add chopped shallots,garlic ,chili flakes and Pulse it for a minute.
