Shortbread:
Mix the softened butter with the sugar. Once it becomes creamy, add the flour, and knead until it forms a ball.Line the mold with parchment paper and place the dough in it. Spread it out with your hands. Bake for 25 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
Toffee:
Melt the butter and add the sugar. When the mixture boils, add the condensed milk and mix well. Then, over medium heat, stir constantly until the mixture caramelizes, meaning it turns brown. This takes about 10-15 minutes.
Pour the toffee directly over the shortbread in the mold, then refrigerate for 1 hour.
Melt the milk chocolate, then pour it over the toffee. Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
Finally, remove the shortbread from the mold and cut it into squares (Millionaire's Shortbread) or bars (Twix).
And there you have it, your homemade Twix are ready!
Observations
Storage: up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator, stored in an airtight container.
Shortbread: this is a biscuit originating from Scotland, while the "Millionaire's Shortbread" comes from Australia.
For a "Twix" effect: to make your preparation resemble the famous candies, cut it into pieces before adding the chocolate. Once your bars are separated, you just need to cover them with chocolate.
