Kathirikai Gothsu with moong dhal

Kathirikai Gothsu made with moong dhal is also called as Kalyana Gothsu. It is a side dish taken with Pongal.
Serves 2
Ingredients Required:Big brinjal - 1 / small brinjals - 6-8, chopped
Tomato - 1
Tamrind - lemon sized
Channa Dhal - 1 tsp
Moong Dhal - 1/4 cup
Hing - pinch
Green Chilli - 1
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Salt as required
Ginger - 1 tbsp
Red Chilli - 2
Oil
How to make?Chop the brinjal and tomatoes and set aside.
Extract 1 cup of tamrind water and set aside.
Cook the moong dhal and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, and allow to splutter.
Add the channa dhal, red chilli and fry till golden in color. Add the ginger paste.
Add the brinjal, green chilli and tomato and slightly mash them.
Cook on low heat. Add salt, coriander powder and turmeric powder.
Add the tamrind water and cook on low heat for 20 minutes till the gothsu thickens.
Add the cooked moong dhal cook for few more minutes.
Season with chopped cilantro and serve hot with Ven Pongal.
