Keema (minced meat) and macaroni bake

Its keema and macaroni on the menu today. I can already imagine the excitement on the dining table, as it is a huge favorite of my hubby and two kids. I think, the combination of minced meat with the white sauce, served hot with the melting mozzarella cheese on the top makes this dish a perfect 10.

Ingredients

Number of serving: 8
500 gms Keema (minced meat)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, crushed

3 tablespoon tomato puree

2 teaspoons coriander powder

1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

2 cups macaroni

1 tsp garlic powder

11/2 cups white sauce

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the onions till golden brown.
    Add the garlic, saute and add the mutton mince.
    Add the tomato puree, coriander powder, cinnamon powder and salt.
  • Saute the keema adding a little water and simmer and cook, covered for 15 minutes. Uncover, and simmer for 15 minutes more till done.
    Remove from heat and set aside.
    Meanwhile boil the macaroni with a little salt, drain and set aside.
  • To assemble the dish :

    Brush a 9 by 13 dish with butter. Spread the boiled macaroni at the bottom.Sprinkle with a bit of garlic powder.
  • Layer the keema on top of macaroni
  • Cover it completely with the white sauce
  • Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 200 C for 25 minutes until nicely golden.
  • Serve hot.
