Spicy mexican beef skewers


- 500 g beef, cubed1/2 medium onion, cut into chunks

For the spice rub:
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon peri-peri or chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano


Step 1

In a spice grinder or mortar and pestle, grind all the ingredients for the rub together until finely ground.

Step 2

Apply spice mixture to the beef and, using your hands, coat evenly.

Step 3

Thread beef cubes onto skewers, alternating with onion.

Step 4

Grill in the oven (or on the bbq) for 10 - 15 minutes or until done to your liking.

Step 5

Serve with a big salad on the side.
