Sprouted horse gram korma (kollu kurma)

Ingredients

Number of serving: 2
1 cup of sprouted horsegram

1 tbsp oil

1 cinnamon, 2 cloves, 2 cardamom pod

1 sprig of curry leaves

1 onion chopped

1 tomato chopped

1 1/2 tsp chilli powder

1 1/2 tsp garam masala

1 tbsp coriander powder

1/2 cup coconut milk

salt to taste

cilantro or chives

2 tbsp coconut

1 tbsp fried gram dal

1 green chilly

1 clove garlic

Preparation

  • In a pressure cooker, heat the oil and add the cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
  • When they are fried, add the chopped onion and curry leaves. Saute for a couple of minutes.
  • Meanwhile grind the ingredients under ‘to grind’ to a paste. Set aside. Add the tomatoes and salt and fry for a couple of minutes.
  • Add the sprouted horsegram, the chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder, the ground paste, the coconut milk and 1 cup of water to the pressure cooker.
  • Close and let cook for 4 whistles or until done. Remove and garnish with chives or cilantro. Serve hot with rotis or parathas.
