Shortbread cookies with m&m's

Ingredients

• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1 pinch salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3.5 oz soft butter
• 1 egg
• 1+2/3 cups flour
• 3/4 cup milk chocolate (approx.)
• m&m's or smarties

Preparation

• Prepare the shortbread dough: whisk together the sugar, salt, vanilla and soft butter. Add the egg and mix well.
• Add the flour in several stages: start by mixing with a whisk, then finish with your hands.
  
• Wrap the dough in cling film and flatten. Chill for 15 minutes.
• Roll out the dough on a floured work surface. Cut into 3.5 x 1.5 inches (9 x 4 cm) rectangles.
  
• Add small strips (0.2 x 3.5 inches or 0.5 x 9 cm) to the top of the pastry rectangles, pressing them down to stick.
• Bake for 10 min at 350°F (180°C), then leave to cool completely. Fill the inside of the cookies with melted milk chocolate.
  
• Finally, place m&m's or smarties in the chocolate and chill for 15 minutes.
• All set!
