My apologies for the long hiatus. Thanks to those who check this page regularly. I was away at Toronto for the weekend. Canada had something called Family Day, which I think it's quite sad. 1 day of the year for family. Shouldn't it be as much as possible?
Took the Greyhound and pulled through the 5 hours, and I spent the next 3 days eating and eating and skating and skating. My legs are killing me now. Amazingly, my ankle's not acting up at all.

The first dinner was on the eve of Chinese New Year. We had reunion even though it's just the 4 of us. Too much food for just the 4 of us, I always say. Above, the one in black is one of our favourites, stew of dried mushrooms, dried mussels, dried scallops, sea cucumber, and fatt choy (direct translation, hair vegetable. 'Fatt' also means prosperity in Cantonese.)

I wish I had this kitchen back at home. Not some miserable 2 element stove and sink... Seriously, not even an oven. How am I supposed to practice?! Have to make to, oh well. I spend most of my time reading anyway. But I think I might get bored of Toronto after a month if I lived there without a job. Really, there's not much to do in the city is there...

Ma's the chef at home. Especially during CNY, I don't want to ruin the magic and love Ma puts into it.

This is our home made version of Yu Shen. It's a salad of shredded carrots, shredded white carrots, pickled gingers, pomelo, raw fish, sesame seeds, crackers, peanuts, plum sauce and some spices. I think we nailed it, the taste was awesome.

Tossing Yu Shen, carefully, on the baking pan... By this time, I'm so incredibly bloated.

Big big hong bao from ma the next day.

See my new shoes? My new Onitsuka Tiger. I know, contrasting colours... But blue looks so much better. Yeah, I'm biased.

We had lunch at a Korean Restaurant. The food was good, and they had really cool looking servers. I think they want all the girls to go there. This place was so conveniently placed in Korea Town.

Had another dinner. This time plus one. ZY came over before Jie and he went to the John Mayer concert. I don't know what's Jie's obsession with singers who are always doped up... Are they really an inspiration? Were hippies even cool back then?

But talk about flower power. See this humongous bouquet of roses ZY gave Jie? Damn sweet right? Eh, ZY, why you never remove the thorns ah? How is Jie supposed to carry them? I joke. Gosh, I'll be so excited if a Singaporean joins LCB, then I can use Singlish, and lesser of the standard English.
Okay, that's enough personal life for now. Toronto was nice, it was pleasant, but really, I didn't do any thing at all besides eating with family. Back to the kitchen.
