Dalia(Cracked wheat) Khichdi
Am back after a 2 weeks sick leave. Khichdi seems like a logical choice for someone who had not been keeping well, but this is not the reason behind this post :-P Dalia Khichdi actually tastes good too besides being nutritious and light. And when it cuts down my effort of making a separate Dal, Curry and Chapati, what more I can ask for. Here it is for the lazy evenings: Ingredients: 1/2 cup Dalia 1/2 cup Moong Dal (Washed and drained) 1 cup vegetables ( Carrot, Beans, Ginger) 4 cups water 2 tbsp Clarfied butter (ghee) 1 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera) 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder (haldi) 1/2 tsp Garam Masala a pinch of Asafoetida (heeng) Salt to taste Method: In a pressure cooker heat Ghee. Add Asafoetida, Cumin and Turmeric powder. Add Dalia. Roast for a few minutes. Add Vegetables.Add Moong Dal and water. Add Salt. When the water stars to boil, add Garam Masala.Close the lid and cook on high till first whistle. Turn the heat to low and cook for 5 more minutes.Switch off the heat and let steam cool down. Serve hot with Papad or chips. related searches : Dalia
