Day 3- Phoenix to Anaheim, CA

By Eat, Drink and Be Aware (Visit website)

Good Evening!

We made it to California!  I am totally out of practice with dealing with the LA Freeways.  Let's just say it was a white knuckle day.  Whew!  We made it.  I will never forget the first time we moved to Los Angeles from New Orleans.  I basically never drove in New Orleans, I walked, took the street car or had Steve drive so once we hit the 6 lane freeways with tons of cars going at full speed I was freaking out.  I had to buy a new car once we got there and promptly got into an accident.  I honestly did not know if I was going to hack it in LA but needless to say you just man up and do what you gotta to do and ended up driving the 405 and 101 everyday to and from work for about 3 years.  We also had another stint of living in Thousand Oaks for 3 years and I managed to drive then as well...I am just a little rusty.   I survived today and we still have some "fun" driving ahead.... going through LA and into San Francisco!  I was happy to hear that even Steve was a bit stressed out today.

We also were stuck out in the desert for about 30 minutes at a complete standstill.  There had been a fatal accident near Indio, Ca and I-10 came to a complete stop. God bless the families.  Terrible.   I tried to remain calm but it was 109 degrees and I just felt like we were out in desert-- stranded.  I am not a desert person.... and am happy to go live in rainy Portland anyday!  I am looking forward to the lush greenery.

So we are here at Disneyland and Emmet, Zoe and Steve have gone off to Prehistoric Pets while I watch Gumbo at the hotel.  I just got word that they actually made a You Tube video of Emmet at the store and will post that later tonight.  The words is that the store was "amazing" and he got a special tour and saw the biggest snake in the world!!

We will be here for two nights so I am looking forward to being out of the car and busy having a little fun!

Off to meet the family for dinner.  Another day done and many more to go.....

Have a great day.
