Fall Festival Bonus: Jonathan's Spoons Review and Giveaway :: CLOSED
Today at The Speedy Gourmet, Jennifer is featuring Funky Chunky popcorn snacks! And she'll be giving away drinks from Waterlicious! Created by Jonathan Simons in 1978. Jonathan's® Wild Cherry Spoons have become favorites of home and celebrity chefs alike. Jonathan's® Original Lazy Spoon® became the "to copy" spoon after Rachael Ray announced it as one of her "can't live without" items in the kitchen on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The Original Lazy Spoon® went on to be featured on the "O List" in The Oprah Magazine and in "Everyday Faves" in Everyday With Rachael Ray It is quite clear that Jonathan has a lot of passion for his work, his spoons are truly pieces of art. They are just beautiful! Each one is made from solid cherry wood; mostly from local Pennsylvania - in turn, saving on production costs while boosting the economy. And the supplier is certified by the FSC, meaning that the wood comes from well maintained forests and adhere to strict environmental principles and criteria. Since Jonathan's Spoons wouldn't be the company they are without the trees they use, they are avid supporters of American Forests, the Pennsylvania Forest Association, and the Hardwood Forestry Fund; all working towards the protection of our native forests. I think that is just wonderful and so important. Often times we don't stop to think where our everyday household items come from and what impact it may have. Since Jonathan's spoons are made from solid wood, there's no glue used, therefore eliminating any worry or question about the integrity and safety of the spoons. Each spoon is "finished" with food safe non-toxic mineral oil and it is reccommended that you occasionally give your spoons an oil job with Jonathan's Spoon Wax or coconut oil. Doing so will help to ensure that your spoon will be around for years of good use! I've admired spoons made by Jonathan Simons for a while now, silently longing to have one of my own. Anyone I know that has one of his spoons loves them. So I was floored when I discovered that I would be featuring Jonathan's Spoons in our Fall Festival by reviewing the Spootle Lazy Spoon! The very first night I used it to break up ground beef as it browned, the second night it stirred the soup, the next night I used it to serve quinoa ... I've used this spoon daily and I can't seem to find a dish I can't use it with. Yesterday, it even was Charlie's tolerant drumstick as she played her refrigerator "drum". Even that didn't seem to have an effect on the spoon, just my head. The Spootle Lazy Spoon rests on the pot or pan, just as any other Lazy Spoon, but its top is flat, allowing it to also be used as a spatula. So smart! I can easily see this becoming my most used untensil in the kitchen. Jonathan's Spoons has such a wide selection of handcrafted kitchen utensils, I'm sure you'd find one you'll love too. If not more than one. I've got my heart set on some of the Flame-Blackened Spoons and some fiesty numbers from the Cat Tail Collection too. Jonathan has even kept the left-handed cooks in mind; offering left-handed versions to many of his designs. Thoughtful performance, quality, and functionality! Each and every one of Jonathan's spoons are handmade right here in the USA. Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE that! Any item from Jonathan's Spoons would make for terrific gifts, too! Give your loved ones a functional piece of art for their kitchen that will last and last! The Spootle Lazy Spoon retails online for $32 - budget friendly considering the quality and beauty of the product, not to mention how long it will be around your kitchen. Luckily you have a chance to win your very own Spootle Lazy Spoon! Huge thanks again to Jonathan's Spoons for generously offering this giveaway! ?´.¸¸.?¨¯`´¯¨?.¸¸.´?
