Not a Marathon

Hello and Happy Saturday!  What a morning we had.  Here’s the low down…

Shane and I went for a 3.5 mile walk this morning.  He was all excited when we got home because Ted had grabbed Shane’s small frisbee, some treats and the clicker in preparation for taking him to meet me at the finish line of the Heart Run.  When I left for the run at 8AM, Shane was still whining and crying and making a fuss.  What a baby! Baby:9524

I arrived in plenty of time for the run which was to start at 9:20 but the buses left Utica College at 8:50.  Once you get on the bus, it become the most frustrating experience because the bus pulls away from the school in good time, but then stops. You sit there, on the bus for a good 10-15 minutes before you get going again. This morning, although it was cold outside, about 40 F, the sun was shining into the bus and it got steamy.  I think I saw Bonnie’s hubby, Rick on the bus. But wasn’t sure and he prob. wouldn’t recognize me in my little “runners” hat.  I didn’t say anything but will have to make sure to check to see if he is a runner….note to self!

Once we were in motion, I began questioning what bus I was on? Was it the 10 mile? Where were we GOING?!  It seemed they took us MILES away from our destination. We made some turns and I began to relax a bit.  The bus spit us all out a “Taylor Rentals”.  The Anthem was played. The mini canon was set off and we were away.

I told Ted, since I have been running slow with Shane and cut my mileage back that I was going to just take it easy, not rush, it wasn’t a timed event anyway.  We arranged for him and Shane to meet me at the Finish Line at about 10:10.  Surprise!  I crossed the line at 10:01. Not bad. The 5 mile run was completed in about 41 minutes.  Okay by me. I wasn’t even out of breath. Whose still got it?!!! :)

dscn03142I was looking all over for Ted and Shane but they were no where to be found. Then I spotted that furry face and my tall handsome man, and was mauled by my dog. Oh happy times.

I was so hungry because I had only a handful of raisins, a tablespoon of peanut butter and a protein shake before starting out.  I raced home and cooked up a cool breakfast.

omelet

This omelet was comprised of:  3/4 cup EggBeaters, 6 asparagus spears, left over Vegetarian greens from last nights dinner at Bella Cucina, feta cheese, salsa, hot sauce, and two pieces of Ezekiel toast.

I’m full.

With that, I’ll leave you all to enjoy your weekend. Ted and I are off to Niagara Falls for a nights get away.  Will report back tomorrow afternoon with some fun news.

Take care, all!
