For a simple and effective dessert, nothing beats this homemade pineapple upside down cake :-) This recipe is so easy and foolproof that it can also be made with children for an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

• 1 can of pineapple slices
• 2/3 cup softened butter
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 5 eggs
• 1.5 cups flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 4 tbsp liquid caramel
• 9 cherries (optional)

Materials

• 24 cm round cake pan

Preparation

• Pour some caramel on the bottom of a greased cake pan. Arrange the pineapple slices on top.
• Place a cherry in each hole of the pineapple slices (optional).
• Beat the butter with the sugar until creamy. Add the eggs and mix well.
• Then, add the flour and baking powder, and mix well.
• Pour this batter into the cake pan.
• Bake for 45 minutes at 350°F.
• And there you have it, your pineapple upside down cake is ready!

Observations

Flavor combination: You can add a bit of coconut and/or rum :-)
