Turkey Burgers with Brie and Grilled Apples
This months selection for Reeni’s burger club was any one of Bobby Flay’s burger recipes. I picked the Turkey Burgers with Brie and Grilled Apples because I love brie with anything! How could it be bad in a burger? The only thing that I did different from Bobby, was to break my brie into little pieces and scatter them throughout the patty. I was afraid we would get a cheese blowout with the first bite if I just put one piece in the middle. Plus this way I’m sure to have a little cheese with each bite! Because you know it’s all about the cheese for me!
I didn’t expect The Hubby to want the apple slices on his burger or even be thrilled with my choice, but he surprised me! He actually said, I’ll do the whole burger experience” and he had it just as the recipe directed. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!! He actually LIKED it! Now for the rating. Do you remember the rating scale? Here it is again just for memories sake. I think because I need a reminder, everyone must need a reminder! 1 Star = Didn’t like and wouldn’t make again. 2 Stars = Liked but wouldn’t make again. 3 Stars = Liked and will make again. 4 Stars = Loved! Will make often. I rated this 3.5 stars. Was it the best burger I ever ate? No, but it was tasty and i’ll make it again.
I liked that it used turkey meat instead of hamburger. I liked the sweetness of the apples with the mingle of Brie. I liked the toasted bread instead of a bun. I actually made this burger and the Turkey Patty Melt with Grilled Onion Relish. Unfortunately, I didnt get any pictures of that burger. But I’ll be making that one again too. The Hubby thought the Brie Burger was better, but I’m torn! Turkey Burgers Filled with Brie and Grilled Apples Ingredients 2 pounds freshly ground turkey Four 1-inch cubes of Brie cheese, 1/2-inch thick 1 tablespoon olive oil Salt and freshly ground pepper 1 large granny smith apple, cored and sliced 1/2-inch thick crosswise 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Four rolls Directions To prepare the burgers: Shape the meat firmly into 4 round uniform patties about 1 1/2inches thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty and place 1 cube of the cheese in each. Knead the meat slightly to cover the hole. Brush both sides of the burgers lightly with the olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat until just smoking. Cook the burgers to your liking. Brush the apples on both sides with the vegetable oil. Grill (in a grill pan) until golden on both sides. Place a burger on the bottom of each roll, top with 1 or 2 apple slices and a dollop of ketchup Note: There is a print link embedded within this post, please visit this post to print it. ![]() related searches : Turkey
