The air fryer, also known as air fryer, has become a must-have appliance in many homes. This innovation has revolutionized cooking for those seeking a healthier, simpler and more economical way of eating. In addition to consuming less energy than conventional ovens, it makes it possible to cook foods with minimal amounts of fat, something that seemed impossible before, such as crispy French fries.

Maintaining good cleanliness is essential not only to extend the life of the fryer, but also to ensure food safety, preventing food leftovers from becoming sources of bacteria that can contaminate other dishes. Therefore, here we share with you the best methods to clean your air fryer and leave it impeccable, just like the first day!

1. Regular cleaning with lukewarm water and neutral soap.

After each use, be sure to clean the removable parts (such as the basket or tray) to prevent the accumulation of food debris or grease that could breed bacteria or transfer odors and flavors to the food you cook later. Wash the basket and tray with warm water and mild soap.

2. Use a soft sponge

Avoid using the rough side of the scouring pad or abrasive materials on Teflon-coated or non-stick surfaces, as you may scratch them. Always opt for a soft sponge or microfiber cloth to clean both the basket and the tray without damaging the coating.

3. Soak to remove stubborn residues

If you notice traces of grease or other food that are difficult to remove, it is best to soak the pieces in hot soapy water for about 15 minutes. This will help you remove the adhering grease without the need to scrub hard.

4. Clean the inside with a damp cloth.

Spatter, grease and food debris can accumulate on the inside of the air fryer. To clean this area without damaging the electrical components, use a soft cloth dampened with warm, soapy water. Then, remove the soap residue with a cloth dampened only with water. Be sure to wring it out well to avoid moisture buildup, which could damage the circuitry.

5. Soft bristle brush for difficult areas

Some parts of the fryer, such as the inner rubbers, can accumulate grease and are difficult to reach. A soft bristle brush or toothbrush is ideal for cleaning these nooks and crannies without damaging them.

6. Baking soda and vinegar to eliminate odors

If you have cooked fish or notice persistent odors in the appliance, you can make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it to the basket and trays. Then spray vinegar over the paste and finally rinse with a clean, damp cloth. This method is effective in eliminating odors naturally.

7. Cleaning of the resistors

Make sure the fryer is completely unplugged and cool before cleaning the heating elements. Wipe the heating element with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove any residue that has accumulated on the heating element. It is not necessary to do this frequently, just check it once a month.

Additional tips:

Instead of placing food directly in the basket, use compatible accessories (silicone mats, baking paper or disposable molds) to facilitate cleaning. Be sure not to obstruct air circulation.

For easy cleaning, you can fill the basket with water, add a few drops of soap and heat for 5 minutes at 390°F (200°C). Then rinse and let dry.

Avoid using the dishwasher if it is not necessary. Although some parts of the fryer can be washed in the dishwasher (depending on the model), high temperatures and strong detergents can damage the non-stick coating. We therefore recommend limiting their use.

Use microfiber cloths to avoid scratching or damaging surfaces.
