Lovers of Middle Eastern cuisine are bound to know falafel. These little vegetarian balls full of flavor made from ultra-fragrant chickpeas are generally prepared in deep frying. But today, we decided to tackle a healthy but equally delicious version of falafels with our trusty Air Fryer, for a result that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! Preparation
- Place the roughly mixed (or crushed) chickpeas, the chopped onion and garlic with the flour in a salad bowl.
- Add chopped herbs, spices, salt and pepper.
- Mix everything well until it forms a homogeneous paste.
- Form the balls with your hands (about the size of a ping pong ball).
- Cook the falafels in the Air Fryer for 20 minutes at 370°F (190°C) on lightly oiled parchment paper, turning them halfway through cooking.
- And there you are, your falafels are ready, enjoy!

How to store falafel?
You can store them for about 2-3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and about 3 months in the freezer.
Can we prepare falafels in the oven?
Of course, once your falafels are perfectly shaped and ready to cook, all you have to do is place them in the oven preheated to 370°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes. For a crispy effect, you can reduce this time to 18 minutes and finish cooking in “grill” mode.
Can this recipe be made in a pan?
Over medium heat with a little fat (butter or oil), cook your homemade falafels for about 10 minutes, shaking the pan from time to time for even cooking.
Can we use dried chickpeas for this recipe?
Sure ! Remember to soak the chickpeas the day before for at least 12 hours in water. Once drained, mix them to prepare your falafel recipe.
What is the best sauce to accompany the falafels?

How to eat falafel?
