25 challengers - 25 recipes - 3 secret ingredients - 1 grand prize winner!
This month Foodie Blog Roll together with Marx Food is having their first ever Iron Foodie! If I am selected as a challenger I along with 24 other contestants will receive a box with 8 secret ingredients. As a challenger you must use 3 of the 8 ingredients to create your signature dish. The other 5 ingredients are an extra thank you for participating! I simply have to answer a few questions by November 5th, 2010 on my blog to enter, so here goes: Why do you want to compete in this challenge?I love challenges and the experience one gains from them. I enter food related contests and challenges often as I feel they help me grow as a person and a cook. I also believe that if I want to grow as a cook and culinarian I simply must come out of my comfort zone and what better way than a challenge like this!Limitations of time/space notwithstanding, whose kitchen would you like to spend the day in & why? Julia Child, Thomas Keller, Ferran Adria, James Beard, Marie-Antoine Careme, or The Swedish Chef?Ferran Adria. After all he is considered by many to be The World's Greatest Chef. What an exciting educational experience that would be, I can only imagine what I would gain by spending a day with someone as great as Ferran! Besides that, I don't know much about molecular cuisine other than what I have seen on television and would love to experience it first hand. What morsel are you most likely to swipe from family & friends? plates when they aren?t looking? Pizza crust! Ever since I was a child I would snag people's left-over crust off their plates when they weren't looking. My Dad and I had a system where I would eat his crust and he would eat my cheese : )Sum your childhood up in one meal.My Dad's homemade pizza every Saturday! My Father is from Naples, Italy (The birthplace of pizza) and moving to the southern states of America could not find decent pizza so he made it from scratch every weekend for us. I am so proud to say that I have continued this tradition for my own family as well. The one mainstream food you can?t stand? Store bought cake...... I abhor it....... I really do. It's seems to be at every party I go to and I have to ask, "Why?" It is so sugary and tasteless. If I am chosen as a challenger than I must: Post my Marx Foods ingredients signature dish on this blog by December 3, 2010. Then all Foodie Blog Roll Members get to vote for their favorite! If I am chosen I will win a $200 gift certificate to Marx Foods! Experience shows that success is due less to ability than to zeal. The winner is he who gives himself to his work, body and soul.~Charles Buxton
