Indian mutton curry

The thick, spicy and lip smacking curry to be paired with rice or bread slices.


Number of serving: 5
400g mutton - cut into bite sizes

2 medium size potatoes - remove skin and cut into chunks

1 tbsp grounded/blended ginger

1/2 tbsp grounded/blended garlic

1 tbsp grounded/blended shallots

2 tbsp meat curry powder

1 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 1/2 tsp garam masala

4-5 dried red chilies - cut into 3-4 pieces

2 sprigs coriander leaves - chopped

3 tbsp oil

Salt for taste


  • Into a mixing bowl, add mutton, ginger, garlic, shallots, turmeric and curry powder.
    Stir all together and keep aside.

    When oil is heated, fry the dried chilies for 2-3 minutes.

    Add mutton and continue cooking over low heat for about 5 minutes.
    Pour in 1/2 liter of water and add salt for taste.

    Once the mutton is half cooked, add in potatoes and garam masala, another good stir.
    Continue cooking until the gravy thickens.

    Remove from heat and stir in coriander leaves.
