A Seasons Weekend

By The Fitness Dish (Visit website)

Hey, Blog Friends. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

?The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.?

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good!

Friday night we ate at Seasons 52:

For anyone who isn’t familiar with the restaurant, they are a restaurant with seasonally inspired dishes. There are many local and organic choices on the menu. Also, every item  is under 475 calories! I was SO excited to finally eat here. They opened in my area a few months ago, and since we have not been able to get in. I called a week ahead of time for our 7:15 reservation on Friday. Michael was feeling a little sick Thursday night into Friday. Luckily, he was feeling better by the evening, because there was no way I wanted to cancel our reservation!

When we arrived, they were mobbed. The hostess handed me a buzzer and told me it would just be a few minutes until our table was ready. They were waiting for a couple tables with checks to get up and leave. Well, those people lingered and we did not get sat until 7:35. They apologized, and we did not complain. Although it was slightly annoying that you make a reservation, and do not get sat when you arrive, I was once a hostess and I understand “lingering” dining guests all too well. Once we sat down the waiter knew my name already (from the reservation), which I thought was very nice. He explained to us about the menu and gave us a few minutes to decide. Michael and I looked online before we went and pretty much knew what we wanted. I was super excited for this meal, there are definitely not enough restaurants like this around here.

We split the goats cheese ravioli for an appetizer:

This was delicious

I had the Organic Baby Spinach Salad with sliced Bosc Pears, Pine Nuts and I subbed the Gorgonzola (ick) for Goats Cheese:

Amazing!

Michael ordered the Kalymnos Greek Salad, with feta, onion and cucumber.

He was RAVING about this salad. I think he would go back for the salad alone.

After we were finished our appetizers, the manager came over to apologize to us about the wait. Again, we never complained so in my book, this was excellent service for him to acknowledge that. He told us that when we make a reservation we should be sat at that time, and it is unacceptable. So, they comped our ravioli AND our salads! Score!

For my entree I had the Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon with whole-roasted sweet carrots, fresh asparagus and red bliss potatoes:

Michael had the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon, which I forgot to take a picture of. I was enjoying my dinner too much :-)

We decided against dessert. I know. SHOCKER! I was pretty full, and the desserts were teeny tiny. Which is good for the waistline…but not worth it to a pregnant girl. It’s like a tease. So, why even torture myself with a 2 bite dessert. If I weren’t pregnant, I wouldn’t feel that way. And ordering like 5 of them would of made us look like piglets ;-)

The after dinner entertainment was the train wreck that is Jersey Shore:

Ron and Sam NEED to GO! They are the most boring, annoying people to watch ever. I can’t take it much longer.

I got to the gym 4 times last week. Totaling 2 hours of cardio, 3 weights sessions and a lot of stretching. I even did my Kegals, as much as I hate doing them (awkward). So, when we decided to do another all day GLEE marathon on Saturday, causing my to skip the gym. I felt less guilty.

Loving it.

I set up some healthy snacks for us to munch on. Again, forgot to take pictures. Ugh. We had some spinach and artichoke hummus with pita chips, flax seed crackers and veggies. A veggie flat bread. Some brown rice sushi (California Rolls, no raw fish for me).  As well as a DELICIOUS bowl of pineapple and watermelon.

The girls and I decided it would take way too long to get through the season if we kept trying to meet. So, we decided to finish them on our own. I was lucky enough to get them first. I will not confirm nor deny how many hours I spent watching on Sunday. When I SHOULD have been either registering at Babies R’ Us or cleaning out my den. It’s all good though. I spent lots of time dancing around the bedroom with Munchkin and Ella to each musical number. Michael came in and as much as he wanted to call me a crazy person, he couldn’t help but laugh. I figured, if I was going to spend the day in front of the tube; I might as well get some type of exercise in ;-)

I could not WAIT to get into the gym today. I am getting more winded each week in the gym. I will admit, it’s a little discouraging. However, I am doing my best to keep up, and listen to my body. If I do my cardio, and don’t have the energy to do all the strength training exercises I planned on doing…I stop. That’s all.

Who watched????

Now that I’m a Gleek and and all, I was super excited to see the GLEE wins! Chris Cofler got me a little choked up. His reaction and his speech, it was adorable. The other teary eyes moment of the night was Michael Douglas presenting the last award. And I feel like an idiot admitting this, but I got choked up when Toy Story 3 won. The clip they showed was the scene that had me crying my eyes out. Oye.

The fashion was great! I thought preggo Natalie Portman looked adorable. It was making me a little depressed over my prenatal wardrobe

Laury’s Non-Golden Globe Pregnancy Fashion:

Yup, aside from the dress I wore on Christmas my old baby doll black dresses from Forever 21,  this is what my wardrobe consists of. Long H&M tanks, one pair of maternity jeans, wraps sweaters and black stretch pants. If Pea in the Pod wanted me to be a blog model, I would be happy to get paid in clothing ;-)

For not being maternity, the H & M tanks do my bump some justice:

Eh, if I had the gowns and fancy dresses, I wouldn’t have anywhere to wear them anyway.

Favorite snack of the week:

All natural peanut butter (I get mine from our local peanut factory, it’s delish) and banana.

That I also enjoy in my favorite frozen dessert version:

Peanut Butter Banana Soft Serve

1 frozen banana, frozen in chunks

2 TBSP All Natural Peanut Butter

1/2 T Vanilla Extract

a squirt of Agave

Few Splashes of Almond Milk

All ingredients in the Vitamix, except the almond milk. Turn on high and blend. Quickly add a tiny splash of almond milk, stick in the agitator and stir while it’s blending. Add more splashes of milk as needed. Be careful not to turn it into a milk shake.

No matter how many ways I enjoy my banana soft serve. I always go back to the peanut butter version. It’s just too good!

The above batch was not as firm as my usual batches. Michael was watching TV, so I had to wait to blend. The segment he was watching was SO long. I finally told him to pause it….didn’t want my bananas to melt ;-)

I just got back from a morning of clients and a gym session. 30 minutes cardio and a few back exercises/ stretching. Man, I can not BELIEVE how beat I am getting again. I feel the second trimester slipping away as I approach entering the 3rd. Hello again,  constant tiredness. UGH.
