Just Breathe

This morning I laid in the middle of my floor for awhile. This is quite easy for me, seeing as I still don’t have any furniture. However, I’ve come to accept this and embrace the fact that instead of mindlessly zoning out while watching tv on the couch, I can sit cross legged on my yoga mat and focus on my breath. It works.


Until I realize how much dust and pebbles of cat litter are wedged into my wood floor and then instead of focusing on my breath, I start to focus on the fact that I’m currently out of swiffer sheets and paper towels.


I digress.


The moral of this little story is that sometimes we just need to lay on the floor and let go. It’s hard, I know. Actually, it can be quite painful at times. There’s always certain areas of our lives we wish we could change and when things start to feel out of control we let ourselves go into a downward spiral. Repeat after me: let.it.go.

I can’t hear you….just give me a little whisper. The person in the cubicle next to you might just really need to hear this too this morning.


Stop focusing on how the dryer shrunk your jeans, how your hair is fried, how you don’t know if you can make that class at the gym tonight, how your best friend is mad at your because you were too busy to call her back yesterday or how you think you might have gained three pounds last weekend. Relax. It’s probably just water weight anyways.


Take care of yourself, you’re all you’ve got.
