Larabar Review ? New Flavors

By Fruits. Veggies. Life. (Visit website)

The post this morning was apparently a false alarm. Apparently by the time I had posted, power was restored to my house. Silly me. However, the damage of waking up so early while freaking out had been done – I returned to my house, did laundry, cleaned my room, and then promptly passed out for almost three hours. When I woke up, I finished the big Larabar review, then when to Target, where I made a big purchase – a new bike.

A few of you may remember my biking troubles of last year – I had two bikes stolen, I was hit by a car, and a random drunk man pushed, yes, pushed me off my bike at a pretty major intersection. My new bike will live in my room, which will hopefully help. In addition, I’ll keep extra eyes out for it so I won’t lose this one as well.

I also bought a yoga mat. I did yoga in high school, but I haven’t been able to get my flow on since starting college – 3 years! Yikes! My room in my new house is spacious – plenty of room for my own mat – and the wood floors are far easier to do yoga on than the carpet of certain dorms.

And now… onto the review!

This review has been a long time coming – I’ve loved Larabars for a very long time. In my ‘old blog’ I know I mentioned certain flavors that I loved, but I never was did a full review. However, when I recently received sample of the four flavors that are coming out in July of 2010, I new the full review was meant to happen. Below is the review of the four newest flavors – Carrot Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Chip Brownie, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip – and you can check out the entire review here.

Carrot Cake: 3.5 Bites *New – coming July 2010

The good: This bar has everything that a carrot cake should have – carrots, raisins, walnuts, coconut and pineapple. While it doesn’t taste carrot cake, per say, it does taste quite good!

The not so good: There are quite a few more ingredients in this bar than many of the other bars – a whopping 9 – including extra added oil. In addition, the walnuts in this bar make me sad. And when I say I really couldn’t taste the carrot cake, I meant it

Chocolate Chip Brownie: 4.5 Bites *New – Coming July 2010

The good: This tastes almost exactly like a brownie! It is fudgy in texture, chocolaty in taste, and absolutely delicious! Really – this is wonderful, and the added chocolate chips really add to the flavor.

The not so good: Why, Larabar, why must you put walnuts in some of your best flavors? It makes me so sad on the inside.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: 4.5 Bites *New – Coming July 2010

The good: I haven’t said this in a long while, but… holy yum! Does this taste like ‘real’ cookie dough? No. Does it taste delicious? Absolutely! I’m sure that this is exactly what Chocolate Cookie Dough Babies taste like – and since I haven’t had a chance to make them, this was a special treat!

The not so good: Well, this doesn’t become available to the public until sometime in July, and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get another one! In addition, this one has a little more saturated fat than other bars (3g).

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip: 4 Bites *New – Coming July 2010

The good: Let’s face it – peanut butter and chocolate were made to go together. This one has just dates, peanuts, chocolate chips, and salt to pull it all together. The chocolate chip bites were the best – so rich, and delicious. In addition, the chocolate chips are dairy, gluten free, and fair trade!

The not so good: In the entire bar, there were only 7 chocolate chips. Not nearly enough in my opinion.
