Mulakushyam - Kerala - Palakkad Style
Ingredients : Cucumber :1cup (diced) Toor Dal :1/2cup Turmeric powder :1tsp Red chilli powder :2tsp Grated coconut :1/2cup Cumin seeds :1/2tsp Salt to taste For seasoning: Mustard seeds :1/2tsp Dried red chillies :2nos Curry leaves :1sprig Coconut oil :2tsp Method of Preparation : 1.Pressure Cook toor daal in pressure cooker. 2.Wash and Cut the vegetables into small pieces and cook with enough water adding turmeric powder and salt. 3.Add the toor daal to vegetable pieces and cook for 2-3minutes 4.Grind coconut and cumin seeds to a smooth paste and add this to the cooked vegetable mix. 5.Now add the red chilli powder and bring to a boil. 6.Heat the coconut oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds,dried red chillies and curry leaves, and when the mustard seeds pop, add to the curry.Yummy Mulakushyam is ready.
