Drizzling on a sundae, or only spread on a toast, we all love salted caramel. And it is easier to make than you think ;)

  • Salted caramel - Preparation step 1Put the sugar in a pot at medium heat. Leave it melt and caramelize, shaking the pot sometimes to stir.
  • Salted caramel - Preparation step 2Once the caramel has formed, add the butter at once (be careful of the splashes). Mix well.
  • Salted caramel - Preparation step 3Then pour the cream, and mix until the caramel is melted. Bring to a boil, then thicken it during 10 minutes, stiring regularly. The caramel will be still liquid, but it will get thicker once it has cooled down.
  • Salted caramel - Preparation step 4Pour in a clean jar, then put in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  • Salted caramel - Preparation step 5There you are, your salted caramel is ready!

Observations

No salted butter? Use regular butter, then add a tiny teaspoon of salt.
A thicker caramel? Take a little bit of cream out to make it thicker.
