Unroll the puff pastry. Using a 9 cm diameter cookie cutter, cut out 8 circles.
Place the circles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and prick them with a fork. Put 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce on each circle, leaving a small border.
Sprinkle with grated cheese (about 2 teaspoons per circle). Season with salt and pepper. Apply a little water with your finger on the edges of the pastry.
Cut strips from the leftover puff pastry. Place the strips on top of the circles, pressing the edges well. Prick the strips with a fork.
Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180°C (350°F). Cut slices of black olives and place two on the circles (unless you want a cyclops mummy).
And there you have it, your mummies are monstrously ready!
Observations
Cheese: you can use any cheese you prefer!
Seasoning: add your favorite herbs!
Puff pastry scraps: if you have leftover puff pastry after making the strips for your mummies, use these scraps to form crunchy bones like those in our decoration ;-)
