- PREHEAT OVEN 350
Cook Pasta...
1. Cook pasta in salted boiling water for half the package time.(Ex. If package says 12 minutes cook 6-8 minutes) Add Vegetable oil to water while cooking to keep pasta from sticking.
2. Drain macaroni and set aside.
PASTA SHOULD BE ABLE TO EAT BUT STILL FIRM!
Prepare and Cook Onions......
3. Wash and cut onions into strips.
4. On medium-high heat, saute onions in 4 TBSP butter just until they start to soften.
5. Add sugar and balsamic vinegar and cook until completely browned.
Now Bacon....
6. Cut each strip of bacon in half.
7. In anothe pan, cook bacon on medium-high until crispy.
RESERVE 1 TBSP BACON GREASE.
8. Crumble bacon and set aside with onions.
Make Sauce.....
1. On medium-high heat, cook 4 TBSP butter, bacon grease, and flour for 2 minutes.
2. add milk and half n half continue cooking just until mixture starts to thicken.
3. Temper the beaten egg yolks with some of the sauce.( Add a small amount of the sauce to the eggs while whisking constantly)
4. Add the egg mixture to sauce while whisking constantly.
5. Cook 1 minute.
6. Whisk in cream cheese and 2 cups of mozzarella cheese until completely melted( This can be done off heat to avoid burning)
7. Add in macaroni, half of the bacon, half of the onions,black pepper and salt if using, and pour into baking dish.
8. Top with 2 cups mozzarella cheese,and remaining onions and bacon.( In that order please)
9. Sprinkle with pepper and paprika
10. Bake 15-20 minutes or until brown, cool and Enjoy
