How do you bake mackerel?

- 1 mandolin
- 1 gratin dish
- 1 chopping board
- garlic crusher (optional)
- 1 vegetable peeler

Preparation
- Cut the potato as thinly as possible using a mandolin. Thinly slice the shallot and lemon. Crush the garlic.
- Drizzle olive oil over bottom of gratin dish. Place the potato slices on top.
Drizzle more olive oil over the top and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the cleaned mackerel fillets on top and add a final drizzle of oil.
*Some bones will be easier to remove after cooking. Locate the parts to be removed before cooking the mackerel. - Add the thin slices of shallot, garlic and season with salt, pepper and herbes de Provence.
- Place lemon slices on top.
- Bake for 12 minutes in an oven preheated to 350°F (180°C).

Observations
How do I remove the remaining bones from mackerel?
You can cut the fillets in half and remove the center and sides containing bones. However, these will be easier to remove once the fish is cooked. You can also use tweezers, but some bones are very difficult to remove this way.
What can I use instead of potatoes?
You can replace them with slices of tomato or zucchini!
How do I store baked mackerel?
We recommend that you eat it as soon as possible. Place in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
Is it possible to prepare this recipe individually in parchment paper?
Yes, just divide the ingredients between two papillotes. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
Can I use frozen mackerel?
Yes, you can. Defrost it beforehand or cook it for longer.
