- Grate the butter. Combine egg + milk.
Combine flour, baking powder and 1/3 cup sugar. - Add the cold grated butter. Rub in the butter using your fingertips until it looks like damp sand.
- Add the egg + milk mix gradually while mixing until you have a homogeneous dough. Set the rest of the egg+milk mix aside for later.
- Add your favorite flavor : we choosed to add chocolate chips.
- Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes. Form two balls. Flatten the balls and cut them into 6 triangles. You'll have 12 scones.
- Put the scones on a baking tray with parchment paper. baste with the rest of the egg + milk mix. Sprinkle with some sugar.
- Bake for 15-17 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
- There you are, your scones with chocolate chips are ready ! Add some extra melted chocolate on top ;-)
Observations
You can replace chocolate chips with lemon zests or orange zests.
You can freeze the raw dough or the baked scones.
You can shape your scones as you please !
